Cardiff Cavaliers are a friendly social cricket club, now in our 46th year. Our ethos is all about the camaraderie of team sport and the enjoyment of cricket, both for pleasure and competition. If that describes your approach to the game then take a look at our site and see if you’d like to join us. We welcome players of all ability and experience – the most important thing is playing the game in the right spirit. Win or lose, we always try to enjoy our cricket.

History

We were formed in 1978 as a Post Office works team.  Over the years the club became open and is now known as Cardiff Cavaliers.  A number of founder members continue to be involved – some of whom still play!

The annual tour in August has taken us to various locations – from Bath to London, and from Cheltenham to Exeter. Every five years, we visit further afield and after trips to Amsterdam and Toulouse, 2018 saw us tour Hamburg for our 40th anniversary. You can find out more about Cardiff Cavaliers’ past by visiting the history section of the site. You can also visit the archive of previous seasons’ match reports.

Cardiff Cavaliers today

Mid-week we play in the Willow League.  Although competitive, with trophies up for grabs, the League reflects the spirit of social cricket and matches are played in good humour.  In recent seasons we have been regular cup finalists, and challenging for the league title, which we achieved in 2015 and 2016.

We also play several friendlies mid-week, mainly in the second half of the season. We have several long-standing friendly rivalries with clubs such as Cardiff Casuals, Chartered Trust and Eclipse, and we also play weekend friendly fixtures in and around South Wales and occasionally beyond. These are all hard-fought matches but always played in the right spirit and we have a fun social time. If you would like a fixture against Cardiff Cavaliers, please get in touch and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Our annual club dinner and awards evening takes part in late October to early November. It’s an excellent evening normally held at one of Cardiff’s top hotels.

Cardiff Cavaliers carries public liability insurance in the event that a member of the public (or property) is injured during an authorised club match.
